iPhone 4 – Arriving June 24′th… OR NOT… – Zagg.com Coupon Giveaway

So you may have noticed I haven’t been blogging much recently (okay, you probably didn’t…). Well, busy times have most certainly arrived so I have had to divide my time other places than here on the site. However, I have been faithfully Tweeting and Facebook(ing?), so be sure you connect with me over on one of those sites as well as here on the blog.

If you look around my site it doesn’t take long to realize that I am a big fan of most all things Apple. From my iMac to my iPhone (and to other devices I wish I had) I love Apple’s line of products. That said, this, my first blog in a while, is about my frustrations with Apple – the company, not the products.

Like many, I went online a few weeks ago to pre-order the iPhone 4 and was unable to do so for most of the day thanks to AT&T’s monumental fail during the first day of orders. For that as well as other reasons I was unable to order my phone until the next day, June 16′th. When I did so I made sure that on the iPhone 4 product page it clearly said “Ships to be delivered on June 24′th”. However, after placing my order and looking at my receipt, I saw that my phone was scheduled to ship July 2′nd, and would not arrive until at least July 6′th. Then, after waiting for at least fifteen minutes on the phone, I was told by an Apple customer service rep that they had reached their pre-order maximum on the first day, and that subsequent orders would not ship until the 2′nd of July. Fine, I understand that. However, this is not what Apple’s very own product page told me when I placed my order. Even though I had been hoodwinked by the product page, nothing could be done. They had reached their maximum and that was that.

So, here I sit on the day of the iPhone’s release, still 2 weeks away from getting my phone that I paid quite a lot of money for in advance. I have nothing to truly complain about, I am aware. My phone will get here come July and all will be well. I just wish that companies, especially the size of Apple, didn’t seem to be so prone to errors like this. What they said on their product page was not what they could offer, and that’s false advertising. Also let this be a caveat to buyers to be sure and check their receipts before finalizing their order. Perhaps if I had done that, myself, I could have caught the error before dishing out over 300 bucks.

One thing did come in the mail today, however. My full-body iPhone 4 protection kit from the good folks over at Zagg.com. Speaking of Zagg, I’m giving away a 20% off coupon code for their site. To win all you have to do is follow me on Twitter, and @ me saying that you’d like the code. I’ll randomly select a winner tonight and send them a DM with the coupon.
